I designed and then built two of these in my workshop, with the idea that the extra one might help me cover the designing. I sold one to a school teacher, who wanted to keep her collection of children's books safe and organized. I am making all kinds of furniture one piece after another, hoping that the shop won't get too full. This piece will just cover that unexpected trip to the doctor, and a few more boards for another cell phone table I got going. Some people think that the Shakers made furniture the way they did for style, but actually, when you see what they had to work with, they made each piece to be durable and simple, each element contributing to its functionality. I think if the shakers had a router, or prefabricated parts, they would have as gracefully integrated these as I do now. It seems that to replicate the Shaker furniture goes against what they would have done, were they working today. New Pine hutch 80 inches high, 34 inches wide. Adjustable 10 inch shelves above an 18 inch counter, drawer and 2 doors. Two adjustable shelves in Cabinet 16 inches deep. Solid brass mortice hinges and ball catches; wooden drawer slides...(this drawer would not probably get opened thrice daily like a silverware drawer). Heirloom quality, proportioned using the golden section. I can deliver this in VT, for a little gas money. (Is 'little gas money' an oxymoron?) gregory
